Our first rebuild project was in the home of Maria, who lives in Amelia in the Guaynabo municipality. For months she had lived with a leaking roof, and with her daughter and two young grandchildren living in the home, it was crucial to get work started right away. NECHAMA deployed a team of volunteers, alongside an Americorps team to begin work and within days the concrete roof repair was complete.

Maria said, “You guys came to Amelia as strangers, now you are family. You brought us care, attention, hope, love. This community had to recover with our own effort... then... the blue and grey angels arrive. BLESS YOU ALL.”
