  • [caption id="attachment_7397" align="alignnone" width="400"] Hello everyone!
  • Little did I, and everyone else, expect that a hurricane would find it's way 500+ miles from the coast to flood my hometown area.

Hello everyone! I'm Isa and I am THRILLED to be joining NECHAMA's team again as a Team Leader. I was introduced to NECHAMA during my second AmeriCorps NCCC year in response to Hurricane Maria, in Puerto Rico, 2018. Since then I've responded to Hurricane Florence in South Carolina and flooding in northern California before jumping into a third NCCC year as a Team Leader. Since COVID I have gotten one amazing dog, Oba, and two degrees, one in Construction Management and the other in Fine Arts. This spring I moved back to the Asheville area, where I went to High School (go Cougars!), and was looking into jumping back into some sort of construction field. Little did I, and everyone else, expect that a hurricane would find it's way 500+ miles from the coast to flood my hometown area. I feel very blessed to have reconnected with NECHAMA and I am excited to be boots on the ground to help people through Hurricane Helene.

Hello everyone, my name is Rami. I am a nomad, an artist, a helper, and I am grateful that my caravan has landed in western North Carolina to work with NECHAMA. I have had a fulfilling career as a rabbi in a variety of communities; in congregations, start-ups, youth programs, hospice residences, and all the unidentified spaces in between where people are seeking meaning and connection. I come to NECHAMA with a background in crisis management, trauma counseling, wilderness guiding, and years of team leadership as a summer camp director. I love the way NECHAMA lives out the value of immediacy, making it possible for anyone who wants — no matter who they are — to jump in and help someone right away.
