Michigan Flood Response
Detroit, Michigan
July - August 2021
As heavy rain fell across Michigan, heavy flooding forced many people to abandon vehicles along the interstate. NECHAMA deployed to Detroit to assist homeowners impacted by flooding. Our response began on July 12, 2021. Twenty-one volunteers from Michigan and around the country joined AmeriCorps Team Maple 1 and NECHAMA staff on the ground, logging 1,449 hours of service. After 69 homes had damage assessments completed, 48 homes required mucking and gutting services.
