Hurricane Francine Relief
Louisiana
September 2024
On September 11, 2024, Hurricane Francine hit southeast Louisiana as a Category 2 hurricane, bringing 100+ mph winds, storm surges greater than 4 feet, and 8+ inches of rainfall. Francine damaged hundreds of homes and left 450,000 people without power. NECHAMA immediately deployed, utilizing our strong Louisiana connections to maximize impact.
From September 13-23, we delivered 1,400 emergency meals in partnership with World Central Kitchen, Ground Force Humanitarian Relief, and Culture Aid NOLA. Together with Rebuilding Together New Orleans and OU Relief Missions, we spent two days removing debris and mucking and gutting homes in Terrebonne Parish.
