Cedar Rapids Derecho Assessment

On August 10, 2020, Iowa experienced excessive damage after a derecho brought sustained hurricane-force winds to the Cedar Rapids area. NECHAMA departed from Minnesota with partners at IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) to assess the need and determine where assistance was needed most. The team engaged in tree cutting, clearing, and debris removal in what NECHAMA described as a "low-attention disaster" that generated less media coverage despite severe impact.
