People are the lifeblood of what we do here at NECHAMA.

As a non-profit, voluntary organization, we need two things: time and money. If you are interested in supporting our efforts financially, please click here to go to our donation page. If you want to find out how to get involved with your time, keep reading!

Deploy to a Disaster

Our primary mission is disaster response, and our greatest need for volunteers is out in the field. NECHAMA has the equipment and expertise, you provide the muscle. Though every deployment is different, all of them need people just like you to come out and volunteer. Sometimes we need volunteers for a day, sometimes for a month, but we always need them. Volunteers will cut trees, gut houses, remove debris, and work as a team to help those who need it most. Though most of the work is physical, it does not all require immense strength and NECHAMA will provide all the instruction and safety gear. Receive Training

Communities rely on NECHAMA for our expertise in disaster response and clean-up. NECHAMA offers a number of training courses to develop more knowledgeable volunteers who can be of even greater assistance to those in need. Whether you simply want to know a little more about a particular subject or take on a larger role with NECHAMA as a team leader, we have training for you. You’ll learn about NECHAMA, our deployment structure, our equipment, and our role in the larger picture of disaster response.

Volunteer in the Office

Field work requires support, and that’s what we do here at the NECHAMA office. Whether it’s cleaning up the equipment after a deployment or helping with mailings and other administrative tasks, we need people behind the scenes to keep NECHAMA running. For those interested in making a larger time commitment, we also need people with specific skills to serve on our committees. These tasks will vary depending on what we need at the time, so make sure you’re on our email list in order to receive notice of specific projects, or contact Amy Cytron at acytron@nechama.org to see how you can help today!

Spread the Word

No one will donate time or money if they haven’t heard about us! NECHAMA needs people to spread the word. Whether through actively going out into the community to talk about NECHAMA yourself or by arranging to have us come talk at your synagogue, church, community center, or youth group, we need your help to get our message out.
