Nechama received this email message from one of the people we helped in Mississippi. It’s the things like this that make us remember why we started this:
Dear Nechama Members:
I wanted to thank you for helping me remove trees and debris from my home in Ocean Springs. Your volunteers were generous in their willingness to work hard, get bitten by bugs, sweat in the outdoor heat, and most importantly as your name means, to provide comfort to those in need.
After Katrina, my mother and husband both died unexpectedly, seven weeks apart. I have felt at times helpless and unable to make decisions. The Nechama volunteers that worked so hard removing huge downed trees from my property gave me relief from those crippling feelings.
It amazes me that people have given so much of their time and energy to help the coast recover. I am grateful to each person and to your organization.
Shalom,
Sheila
