Minneapolis, MN – Nechama was the recipient of a first-time grant from the foundation division of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Formerly Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance Company and Aid Association for Lutherans, Thrivent makes contributions through its foundation to organizations that assist in community service such as natural disasters. Nechama was sighted for its assistance provided after the Buffalo Lake tornados and Albertville floods in the summer of 2003. For a number of years Nechama has worked closely with Lutheran Social Services/Lutheran Disaster Response in coordinating volunteers and tools for disaster cleanup. It was a special honor for Nechama to be recognized by another faith group outside the Jewish community, and also shows the strong bond of working cooperation between the organizations.
