Minneapolis, MN - Steve Lear was presented the Chesed (compassion) Award at the Sabes Jewish Community Center 35th Anniversary dinner. Steve, founder of Nechama, was one of three award recipients for outstanding community service. Giving introductory remarks and presenting the award was Steve’s daughter, Kim Lear. The event was an opportunity for the work of Nechama to be recognized as an important part of the Twin Cities Jewish community contribution to Tikkum Olam (Repairing the World). Other recipients were Frank Schochet, founder of Insty-Prints International and a benefactor of the Jewish community for decades, and Nancy and Steve Schactman, leaders in the Jewish community for over 30 years.
